The WTA Doha is a long running professional women’s tennis event, better known as Qatar Ladies Open. However, the event is currently begin run under the title “Qatar TotalEnergies Open” due to sponsorship. The upcoming tournament will mark the 21st official iteration of the WTA 1000 event.
WTA singles ranking leading professional Iga Swiatek is also the leading seed at WTA Doha 2023 event. The three times major champion has been holding her lead ranking since last April. Last year, she won two grand slams, at French Open and US Open. Swiatek recently reached the fourth round at Australian Open 2023. She is the current defending champion of the event.
Jessica Pegula is the 2nd seed at the upcoming Doha event. The American professional dropped to 4th rank in WTA singles this January. She earned her first WTA 1000 title at last year’s doubles tournament at WTA Doha. Pegula also won the Canadian Open as her second WTA 1000 doubles title same year. She was part of the United Cup champion team in 2023 and reached quarterfinals at recent Australian Open.
French female professional, Caroline Garcia is the 3rd seed at the upcoming Middle Eastern tennis event. The WTA singles 5th ranked player won the WTA Tour finals singles in 2022. Additionally, Garcia was a semifinalist at US Open which pushed her singles rank to career highest 4th. She recently reached the 4th round at Australian Open 2023.
