Australian Open is an annual tennis tournament sanctioned by both ATP and WTA. Held in January of every year, it is a part of the Grand Slam series. The event is sponsored by KIA at present.
The 2023 Australian Open is the official 111th addition to the long-running event. It will feature singles, doubles, and mixed tournaments for both men’s and women’s disciplines. The event will be played on a hard surface. It will also feature a massive prize pool and ranking points as rewards.
WTA singles’ leading professional Iga Swiatek is also the leading seed of this year’s WTA Australian Open. The Polish professional was a semifinalist at the 2022 event and bagged both French and US Open championships last year. She is currently the fourth woman in WTA history to be leading the standings for over 40 consecutive weeks.
The second seed of this year’s opening grand slam is Ons Jabeur. The Tunisian professional is the 2nd lead of WTA singles at present. She was a finalist at both Wimbledon and US Open last year.
American professional Jessica Pegula is the 3rd seed at the upcoming Melbourne event. Ranked 3rd in WTA singles, she reached the quarterfinals of the Australian, French, and US Open 2022. She earned her first WTA 1000 title at Doha last year.
