Sania Mirza of India and Mate Pavic of Croatia advanced to the semifinals of the mixed doubles competition at Wimbledon 2022 by claiming victory against the fourth-seeded team of Gabriela Dabrowski and John Peers.
In the mixed doubles tournament at Wimbledon, Sania Mirza of India and Mate Pavic of Croatia beat the fourth-seeded team of Gabriela Dabrowski and John Peers. This put them in the semifinals. The sixth-seeded Indo-Croatian won a close match on Court 3 with scores of 6-4, 3-6, and 7-5. Sania made it to the semifinals of the mixed doubles tournament at Wimbledon, where she is playing for the last time. This is the first time in her career that she has done this. Sania’s powerful forehand was on display again, and her strong shots gave her opponents a lot of trouble.
Now, Sania and Pavic will play the winner of the match between second-seeded Desirae Krawczyk and Neal Skupski and seventh-seeded Jelena Ostapenko and Robert Farah. That match will be played next. Whoever wins this match will face Sania and Pavic.
Sania also played in the women’s doubles event, but she and her Czech partner Lucie Hradecka lost in the first round. Magdalena Frech and Beatriz Haddad Maia beat them by scores of 6-4, 4-6, and 2-6 in three sets.
The sixth-seeded team of Sania and Pavic moved on to the quarterfinals of the mixed doubles event earlier in the day. This was possible because Ivan Dodig and Latisha Chan, who were supposed to play them in the second round, just didn’t show up.
