Open Sud de France was first established in 1990 as Grand Prix de Tennis de Lyon. Initially the event was an ATP World Series event. Later, the event was renamed and moved to Montpellier in 2010. At the same time, it was degraded to an ATP Tour 250 event.
Upcoming 2023 event will be the 36th official iteration of Open Sud de France. The event will be played as an indoor hard court-based event in Montpellier. It will feature a prize pool of €500k along with additional ATP ranking points for both singles and doubles disciplines.
Holger Rune is leading the seed list of this year in the French tennis event. The Danish professional recently reached his career highest rank 9th on January 30. Last year, Rune reached the quarterfinals at French Open and earned 3 ATP tour titiles. He finished the Australian Open 2023 run to fourth round.
Italian professional Jannik Sinner is the 2nd seed at Montpellier tomorrow. He is currently ranked 17th in ATP singles. Sinner was a quarterfinalist in three of four grand slams last year. He also reached the quarterfinals of Erste Bank Open at the end of last year.
Borna Coric is the third seed of this year. The Croatian is ranked 23rd in ATP singles since January. Last year, he won the Cincinnati Masters event and made the record of lowest ranked professional to win a Masters 1000 event. Coric participated in the Australian Open 2023 but was defeated by Jiri Lehecka during the first round.
