Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios has reached quarter-final at the Japan Open beating Kamil Majchrzak 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 on Thursday. It is the ninth time the Aussie reached that stage this season out of the 13 tournaments he appeared in. He is probably experiencing the best season of his career.
After losing the first set by 3-6, Kyrgios showed sheer professionalism holding his nerves. He made a bold comeback in the second set and demolished the Polish opponent by 6-2 in the following two sets. His opponent in the quarter-final is yet to be determined. However he will face the winner between Hiroki Moriya and Taylor Fritz. The clash will take place on Friday.
That’s not all that Kyrgios has shown in Japan. Alongside his fellow Aussie partner Thanasi Kokkinakis, he demolished Nishioka and Uchida by 6-1, 6-2 in the first round of the team event.
Nick Kyrgios owns seven titles on the ATP Tour. His kit contains the 2019 and 2022 Washington Open. He competed in eleven finals including the Wimbledon this year and the Cincinnati Masters in 2017. He ranked his career-best World No. 13 on 24 October, 2016.
