The Miami Open is a professional tennis tournament, played on outdoor hard courts. Established in 1985, it is currently one of the most prestigious events of the ATP Tour. The competition is organized under their Masters 1000 series.
The upcoming 38th edition of the Miami Open will be played at the Miami Gardens this Wednesday. Like most standard ATP Masters 1000 series events, it will run for two initial rounds and then will head to the playoff. This year’s Miami Open is featuring a massive $8.8 million prize pool.
Miami Open 2023 is featuring the defending champion, Carlos Alcaraz as the event’s lead seed. The Spanish professional is currently also the leading tennis player in ATP singles rankings worldwide. Greek professional, Stefanos Tsitsipas is the second seed at this year’s Miami Open. The young professional is ranked 3rd at present in singles worldwide. Tsitsipas recorded his career 250th win at the inaugural United Cup 2023. Following that, he participated and reached the finals at the 2023 Australian Open but was upset by Novak Djokovic.
The 3rd seed at this week’s Miami event is Casper Ruud. The young Norwegian professional has ranked 4th in the ATP singles worldwide leaderboard. Ruud reached the second round at this year’s Australian Open but lost to Jenson Brooksby. Following which, he took a month-long break.
