ATP Tour’s Indian tennis calendar for 2023 is set to open with the upcoming Maharashtra Open 2023 on this Monday.

Maharashtra Open or better known as “Tata Open Maharashtra” is the Indian professional tennis tournament. The event was first founded in 1996. Since then, it has been held annually as part of the ATP Tour in Pune, India.
The upcoming Maharashtra Open 2023 will be the official 27th edition of the event. It will be part of the ATP Tour 250. The hard-court event will feature both singles and doubles tournaments for men’s discipline. A total of 24 draws will participate in the upcoming event.
The 2023 Maharashtra Open’s first seed is the Croatian professional Marin Cilic. The 34 year old tennis pro is currently ranked 17th in ATP global standings. He has earned 20 total titles in his singles career. At the Canadian Open 2022, he won his 350th hard court game and became the 5th active player to do so.
ATP 35th-ranked Dutch professional, Botic van de Zandschulp is the second seed this year. Van de Zandschulp reached the third rounds of both the Australian and French Open last year. He also reached the fourth round at Wimbledon in 2022. He won his maiden doubles title at the European Open 2022 with Tallon Griekspoor.
Emil Russuvuori is the 3rd seed in the upcoming event. The Finnish professional reached his career-highest 41st rank last year. Additionally, he reached the second round of 2022’s Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon.
