The Korea Open is also known as Hana Bank Korea Open, named after its title sponsor Hana Bank. The event combines tournaments as parts of both the ATP Tour and WTA Tour. However, the men’s tournament will be held for the first time this year while the female counterpart is the 18th edition. It will take place at the Olympic Park Tennis Center in Seoul, South Korea. The women’s event will be held from 19 to 25 September and the men’s event will run from 26 September to 2 October.
2017 French Open winner Jelena Ostapenko is the top seed in the tournament, followed by Ekaterina Alexandrova. However, British teen Emma Raducanu is the one the tennis world would be looking at. Former Wimbledon runner-up Eugenie Bouchard is another favorite name at the tournament.
Women’s Defending Champion: Zhu Lin
Chinese tennis player Zhu Lin claimed the title last year. She beat the top seed of the tournament Kristina Mladenovic 6-0, 6-4 in the final. She achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 69 in 2020. She has won the 2019 WTA Jiangxi Open in doubles. Along with that title, she has won one singles and one doubles WTA 125 title as well as 14 singles and six doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. Zhu is the fourth seed at the Korea Open this year.
