Barcelona Open, currently known as Barcelona Open BancSabadell is an annual tennis tournament held in Barcelona. It is sanctioned by the ATP Tour under their 500 series competitions. The tournament is currently sponsored by Banc Sabadell.
The Upcoming Barcelona Open 2023 will be the 70th annual iteration of the long-running event. As usual, the event will be played on an outdoor clay court. It will feature a €2,722,480 prize pool amount and official ATP rank points for participants.
Spanish professional tennis player, Carlos Alcaraz is the first seed at the upcoming event. The former ATP singles lead is currently ranked 2nd on the leaderboard. Alcaraz earned his 8th career title at the ATP Masters this year. Most recently he failed to defend his Miami title for a second time after losing to Jannik Sinner in the semifinals.
Stefanos Tsitsipas is the second seed at Barcelona this week. The Greek professional reached his career-highest 3rd rank at ATP singles this year once again. He however recently failed to defend the Monte-Carlo Masters title for a third time after getting defeated by Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinals.
The 3rd seed at this week’s ATP 500 event is the Norwegian professional, Casper Ruud. The young tennis player is ranked 5th in ATP singles since April 3rd. Recently at the 2023 Estoril Open, Ruud defeated Miomir Kecmanovic in the finals to earn his 10th singles career title.
