The World Snooker Championship is the most prestigious international snooker tournament. Established in 1927, it is also the longest-running tournament in professional snooker.
Upcoming edition of the event is titled “Cazoo World Snooker Championship 2023.” As the popular British car retailer, Cazoo is the major sponsor of this event. For the 47th consecutive year, it will be held at the Crucible Theater.
World Snooker Championship 2023 will feature a £2.4 million prize pool with a winner’s share of £500,000. 32 professionals have qualified to participate in the main competition this year. The 2022 champion, Ronnie O’Sullivan, will also be present to defend his title.
The event will maintain a playoff format in five rounds. The first round will be played on the best of 19 frames. As each round reaches completion, the frame count will be increased. The final match will be played on a best-of-35-frame game.
