The prestigious motorcycle endurance race of France, Bol D’or celebrates its 100-year anniversary as the 85th edition of the 24-hour race event is set to kick off this Sunday at the historic circuit of Paul Ricard. Bol d’Or is part of the FIM Endurance World Championship. Among the seven races organized yearly by the FIM, Bol D’or, along with Le Mans are the only 24-hour races in the EWC. Both take place in France and are massively popular in the racing scene.
The Bol d’Or 2022 is the 29th edition to be held at Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet. Similar to previous years, the race is joined by the best teams and riders in the motorcycle endurance racing scene.
Defending Champion: Yoshimura SERT Motul (Gregg Black, Xavier Siméon, Sylvain Guintoli)
The defending champion, Yoshimura SERT Motul is starting as a favorite this year. Gregg Black, Sylvain Guintoli, and Xavier Siméon are all in superb form and are having a brilliant year with a win in 24 Heures Motos, along with the fastest laps in all the events so far in EWC. Other than them, YART (Yamaha), BMW, and HRC are expected to perform well in the event. While BMW and HRC have one win each in formula EWC, the Yamaha official team has the most pole positions.
The 2022 Bol d’Or is generating massive hype to the racing fans as the winner of this event will get very close to getting crowned the FIM Endurance World Champion.
When is the event taking place?
The Bol d’Or 2022 is scheduled to take place between the 15th to 18th of September. The first day consists only of practice and qualifying sessions, while the 2nd and 3rd days provided us with some exciting races like the Bol d’Argent and the two rounds of the Bol d’Or classic.
However, the main attraction of the event, the 85th Bol d’Or, will start at 3:00 pm local time on September 17, ending the next day following the completion of the 24-hour race.

Paul Ricard is a motorcycle circuit that has been hosting the Bol d’Or since 2015. Established in 1969 at Le Castellet, Var, near Marseille, the circuit was named after Paul Ricard, a French industrialist. For Bol d’Or, the layout without Mistral chicane (1A-V2) is used. In 2021, the length was 5.673 km.
