Francis Ngannou is a professional Mixed Martial Artist for Cameroon. He attends the Ultimate Fighting Championship in Heavyweight Division (UFC). He is the current champion of this UFC Heavyweight Division. In 2022, his ranking is #5 in the UFC men’s pound-to-pound. His nickname is “The Predator “.
Early Life:
Ngannou’s birthplace is Batie in Cameroon. In poverty, he had little formal education growing up. At the age of 6, Ngannou’s parents were divorced. He lived with his aunt. When he is 10 years old, Ngannou started working because of short funds. Being a youngster, several gangs from the village approached him to join them. But Ngannou rejected their proposal and decided to fight as a street fighter for motivating to do something positive. He pursued boxing.
When he is 22 years old, Ngannou started training in boxing. After a year, Ngannou stopped training due to an illness. When he is 26 years old, he wanted to go to Paris to pursue professional boxing. Then reaching Europe he was jailed for two months in Spain because of illegally crossing the border. When he reached Paris, he had nothing to live on. Living homeless on the streets of Paris, a few days later he was notified by a friend of Fernand Lopez and the MMA factory. Being a fan of Mike Tyson, Ngannou was originally interested in learning how to box but Lopez convinced him to try MMA instead. Lopez gave Ngannou some MMA gear. He got the opportunity to train and sleep at the gym.

Early Career:
In 2013, Ngannou began his MMA career. He fought mostly in the French promotion 100% Fight. He compiled a record before signing with the UFC.
Ultimate Fighting Championship
In 2015, Ngannou made his debut against fellow newcomer Luis Henrique in the Ultimate Fighting Championship at UFC on Fox 17. He won the fight.
In 2016, Ngannou faced UFC newcomer Curtis Blaydes at UFC Fight Night 86. He won the fight. He faced another newcomer in Bojan Mihajlovic at UFC on Fox 20. He won the fight. Then he faced Anthony Hamilton at UFC Fight Night 102. He won the fight and earned his first UFC Performance of the Night bonus.
In 2017, Ngannou faced Andrei Arlovski at UFC on Fox 23. He won the fight and earned Ngannou his second Performance of the Night bonus. He was expected to face Junior dos Santos at UFC 215. But the fight was postponed. He faced veteran Alistair Overeem at UFC 218 and won the fight. After the bout, Ngannou signed a new eight-fight contract with the UFC.
In 2018, Ngannou fought Stipe Miocic for the UFC Heavyweight Championship at UFC 220 and lost the fight. Then he fought Derrick Lewis at UFC 226 and lost the fight. The fight was labeled as a “snoozefest”. He fought Curtis Blaydes in a rematch in the main event at UFC Fight Night 141and won the fight and earned a Performance of the Night bonus.
In 2019, Ngannou fought Cain Velasquez which was headlined the UFC’s inaugural event on ESPN, UFC on ESPN 1, and won the fight via knockout in the first round. He fought Junior dos Santos at UFC on ESPN 3 and won the fight via TKO. He again earned him the Performance of the Night award.
In 2020, Ngannou was scheduled to fight Jairzinho Rozenstruik at UFC on ESPN: Ngannou vs. Rozenstruik. But it was rejected due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The pair was rescheduled at UFC 249 and won the fight. He earned another the Performance of the Night award.
UFC Heavyweight Championship:
In 2021, a rematch for the UFC Heavyweight Championship bout between Miocic and Ngannou took place at UFC 260 and Ngannou won the fight. He got another Performance of the Night award.
In 2022, Ngannou faced the Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion Ciryl Gane at UFC 270 and won the fight which is the first decision win of his career.
Boxing career:
Ngannou has always wanted to start a professional boxing career. He accomplished zero professional fights in his career. Ngannou wants to start his Boxing career after his ending current UFC deal.
