Gane’s birthplace is La Roche-sur-Yon. His father was a bus driver, and footballer in the Division d’Honneur. Gane played football and basketball in his youth life. He settled to work in sales at a furniture store. He also joined a work-study program in Paris. Suddenly this time, a classmate introduced Gane to Muay Thai. Gane was scheduled to fight against Jonathan Gengoul at Muay Thai Spirit 5 and won the fight.
Muay Thai career:
In 2016, Gane made his professional debut against Jeremy Jeanne at an AFMT Muay Thai heavyweight title fight and won the fight. Winning against Samih Bachar as a decision, Gane was scheduled to fight Brice Guidon at La Nuit Des Titans and he beat Guidon. Gane fought and beat Bangaly Keita at Warriors Night. Then He was scheduled to fight the multiple-time WBC Muaythai champion Yassine Boughanem at Duel 2 and won the fight by decision.

Early career:
In 2018, Ciryl Gane made his professional MMA debut. He was contracted to the Canadian MMA promotion TKO. It was his first fight against Bobby Sullivan for the vacant TKO heavyweight championship and he won the title fight. He fought the heavyweight championship Adam Dyczka and won the fight. Then he fought against Roggers Souza, which he won in the first. It was his third fight in TKO and his second title defense.
Ultimate Fighting Championship:
In 2019, Gane made his promotional debut against Raphael Pessoa at UFC Fight Night: Shevchenko vs. Carmouche 2 and won the fight. Then he fought Don’Tale Mayes at UFC Fight Night: Maia vs. Askren and won the fight. From this win, he earned a Performance of the Night bonus. He fought Tanner Boser at UFC Fight Night: Edgar vs. The Korean Zombie and won the fight.
In 2020, Gane was scheduled to fight Shamil Abdurakhimov at UFC 249. But it was rejected due to Gane’s suffering pneumothorax during training. It was rescheduled at UFC 251 but the pairing was canceled as Abdurakhimov was removed from the bout for undisclosed reasons. Then Gane was expected to fight Sergei Pavlovich at UFC Fight Night 174. But it was rejected due to Pavlovich’s injury. Then he fought Junior dos Santos at UFC 256 and won the fight.
In 2021, Gane faced Jairzinho Rozenstruikat UFC Fight Night 186 and won the fight. Then he fought Alexander Volkov at UFC Fight Night 190 and won the fight. He faced Derrick Lewis at UFC 265 for the Interim UFC Heavyweight Championship and won the one-sided fight. This win earned him the Performance of the Night award. Then he fought Francis Ngannou for the UFC Heavyweight Championship at UFC 270 and lost the fight. It was his first defeat in any martial arts competition.
In 2022, Gane is scheduled to face Tai Tuivasa at UFC Fight Night 209.
