Transfer window; Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp has done business in the summer transfer window. It’s not certain but it seems like this way. After appointing Liverpool manager, the German tactician slowly but progressively changes his squad, increasing the depth and improving the quality.

He delivered the most desirable English Premier League title to Allreds in the 2019-2020 season. 30 years of waiting comes to an end. He won the coveted UCL trophy and every single trophy possible during his 7 years of tenure. Last time, they were in contention for winning all the 4 trophies possible.

They won the League Cup & the FA Cup against Chelsea, both of the results were settled through the tiebreaker though. After reaching the UCL final, they lost against Real Madrid and missed the Premier League with a narrow margin to Guardiola’s Manchester City. The German boss intended to reduce the gap and win everything this time. Here, we’re discussing Liverpool’s transfer activity so far.

Incomings:

The Merseyside club’s statement signing this time is Uruguayan international Darwin Nunez from Benfica. The towering forward is an out-and-out striker who has a great knack for threatening the opposite defense relentlessly and creating havoc. The 23year old striker had a great season with the Portuguese side Benfica last year & he caught the eyes of the German boss during their encounter in the UCL.

Overall, Nunez played 84 games for Benfica in his 2years stint. This time, he scored 47 goals and provided another 16 assists. He has his national team debut with Uruguay. He featured 11 times for his country and scored 2 goals. Liverpool paid Benfica £80 million for his service with add-ons which means the overall operation could reach £100 million. He signed a five-year deal that ties him to Anfield until 2027.

Liverpool signed another player in Favio Carvalho from Fulham. The young and exciting Portuguese attacking midfielder joins Liverpool by putting pen to paper for a long-term deal also.

The Allred signed young English right back Calvin Ramsay from Aberdeen. He’s an exciting prospect and will become the understudy of Trent Alexander Arnold.

Contract extension:

Liverpool ended a soap opera by securing the service of their star attacker, Mo Salah. The club was anxious as the spearhead of their attack reached the final 12 months of his contract.

However, the club successfully extended its contract till 2025 and made the Egyptian player their highest earner in the history of the club. Salah will reportedly earn £400k per week from next season.

Joe Gomez had a contract till 2024, nonetheless, the club felt that it would be ideal to tie down the defender for a long-term deal. Both parties agreed on personal terms and a contract extension has been signed already.

Outgoings:

Sadio Mane left the club after serving them for 7 long years. He along with Salah and Firmino formed a formidable attack and was vital in every success they have achieved under Klopp.

However, Mane felt that it would be best for him to move and taste something different. Bayern Munich bought the Senegalese forward for a fee of £35 million. Mane played 269 matches for Liverpool, scored 120 goals, and provided another 48 assists. It’s obvious that his absence will be felt at Anfield in the coming weeks.

Divock Origi, the man of the special event left the club for free and signed with Italian champion, Ac Milan in search of regular game time. Academy prospect Neco Williams was sold to Nottingham Forest for a fee of £16 million.

So far, these are the activities done by Liverpool F.C. Let’s just wait & see how the Merseyside club will perform with their new players and without their experienced stars.
