Emma Raducanu confirmed her spot at the Korea Open semi-final with a dominating victory of 6-2, 6-2 over Magda Linette. She reached this level in a tournament for the first time since winning the US Open 2021. Friday’s win marks her three back-to-back wins this season.
Raducanu played in an attacking style striking with her forehand that helped her to take an early lead on Friday. She broke Linette’s serve twice in the first set and wrapped up the set in just 35 minutes. She found more resistance in the early second set and eventually finished the game with a dominant victory.
Raducanu’s ranking sharply fell from No 11 to No 83 after losing the first round of the US Open this year. But the teen was hopeful about a comeback. She has not dropped a single set at the WTA tournament.
Now the British No 1 will aim to reach her first WTA final. The Brit will face top seed Jeļena Ostapenko in the semi-final. She beat teen Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva 6-2 6-1 in the quarterfinal. The Latvian is the top seed in the running Korea Open and has won the grand slam title once. She bagged the French Open title in 2017. The semifinal will take place on Saturday, September 24 at 2:30 AM, Eastern Time (ET). Tennis Channel will broadcast the game in the United States while fans in the United Kingdom will be able to watch it on Amazon Prime Video.
