Derrick Lewis is set to fight in his hometown as he returns to the octagon at UFC 277. His opponent, this Saturday night, is the Russian, Sergei Pavlovich.
Lewis in his usual persona revealed in the press conference that he has no idea who Sergei Pavlovich is. “You already know, you didn’t know who he was either. Trying to ask me like y’all know,” said the Black Beast. “I didn’t know who he was. Still don’t know who he is… It really don’t matter.”
Derrick Lewis (26-9-1) has not fought since his KO loss against Tai Tuivasa in February earlier this year at UFC 271. The heavyweight is looking forward to returning to the octagon in his hometown, Texas. “I started fighting in Texas. I got more wins than losses in Texas. I don’t think it’s no bad luck or anything like that. It is what it is,” Lewis replied to the press.
Sergei Pavlovich (15-1) is not the biggest name in the heavyweight division yet. However, the Russian is on a 3 fight-win streak. Currently 11th in the heavyweight rankings, Pavlovich will certainly try to prove his potential by winning against a veteran like Lewis.
“He’s a great fighter, he’s a dangerous fighter. In my career, there’ve been a lot of great, dangerous fighters. Like I said I’ve done the work. I’m 100% ready and the fight will show,” commented the 30-year-old Russian.

Lewis, despite all his mockery and taunting of Pavlovich, cannot afford to take the latter any lightly. Pavlovich is an exceptional striker, and he does not seem fazed one bit by the concept of fighting in front of his opponent’s home crowd.
He is ready to put on a show at the American Airlines Arena, and with both fighters being heavy hitters, this fight will certainly be filled with action from start to finish.
