Though WrestleMania is the biggest event in professional wrestling, other events are much anticipated too. SummerSlam— the biggest event of the summer of WWE is back again with a number of thrilling fights on the card. The WWE Summerslam 2022 will be held for the Raw and SmackDown branded wrestlers of WWE.
Since 1988, SummerSlam has been held in August every year. This year, the 35th event of SummerSlam will take place at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee on July 30.
This year’s event is reasonably special. Vincent Kennedy McMahon will not be leading the charge as Triple H will mark his first major WWE event being the new Head of Creative.
Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar will fight for the undisputed WWE universal title in the headliner main event in SummerSlam for the last time. Let’s have a look at what’s more in the bucket!
Apart from the main event, WWE has scheduled seven more exciting matches for SummerSlam 2022. Five singles matches will take place inside the ring. The Miz will fight against Logan Paul while Pat McAfee will take on Happy Corbin. Bobby Lashley will defend his WWE United States Championship title which he seized beating Theory at Money in the Bank. Theory will give his best to take revenge.
Two Divas singles are scheduled for championship titles. Liv Morgan will take on Ronda Rousey to defend her SmackDown Women’s Championship belt. Winning the Money in the Bank contract, Morgan made a successful cash-in to be a WWE champion for the first time in her career. On the other hand, Bianca Belair will defend her WWE Raw Women’s Championship belt against Becky Lynch.
Summerslam has also put two tag team matches in the bucket. The Usos will battle against The Street Profits for holding their Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship belts. Jeff Jarrett will be the special guest referee conducting the match. The Usos won at the Money in the Bank, but this rematch was announced due to some controversy. Now the battle will find the actual champions. Meanwhile, The Mysterios and The Judgement Day are set for a ‘no disqualification’ tag team clash.
