Scotties Tournament of Hearts is a curling championship event for women’s discipline. The popular Canadian event was first established in 1961 as Diamond D Championship. It was later renamed to the current title in 2007 and is held annually in Canada.
Upcoming Scotties Tournament of Hearts 2023 will be the 17th edition of the event since its renaming. It will kick-off this Friday in British Columbia and will run till the following Sunday. A total of 18 teams are planned to participate in the event.
Fourteen of the 18 participating teams are representing their province or territory. While the previous champions, Team Kerri Einarson are representing Team Canada. The additional 3 wild card teams were chosen by CTRS standings. These teams will be competing against each other for a $300,000 purse pool.
The event will be played in two stages. The eight round robin stages will run for a week. Which will then be followed by the playoff round. Top seed teams of each pool will qualify for the semifinals, while second and third ranked teams will play for crossover pool.
