As the regular season of MLB has just finished, we are now heading toward the exciting postseason. The postseason will kick off with the MLB Wildcard Series 2022. Here is everything you need to know about the best-of-three event.
This year, the postseason playoffs will be unlike ever before. There has been a massive overhaul in the format. While there used to be 10 teams participating, now the number is upped to 12, with 6 teams from each league. Also, Wild Card Game is replaced with the best-of-three Wild Card Series.
The top 2 placed teams from each league will get a bye in the first round, placing themselves directly in the Division Series. The teams placed 3rd-6th in the regular season will play in the 3-day-long Wildcard Series. The third seed will host the sixth seed, while the 4th hosts the 5th.
The eight teams from the National and American leagues that are preparing for the postseason to start are all formidable. The Cleveland Guardians and St. Louis Cardinals are the top seeds of the Wildcard series thanks to their triumph in AL Central and NL Central, respectively. With such strong teams and a new exciting format, the 2022 postseason of Major League Baseball is all ready for a big start with the Wildcard Series.
