The 2023 World Team Trophy starts on April 13th as the base figure skating athletes have marched to Japan. The tournament will be offering huge prize money this year.
Six teams are participating in this year’s World Team trophy. They are the host nation Japan, the United States, Canada, South Korea, Italy, and France. The best skaters in the world will be playing in a team format for their nation.
The 2023 world figure skating championship gold medal holder Kaori Sakamoto will participate in this tournament for Japan in the women’s category. We won’t be seeing Shoma Uno in the tournament.
The 2023 silver Cha Jun-hwan in the men’s category and Lee Hae-in Who and silver medal in the women’s category will represent South Korea. For the USA, we will see 2023 bronze medalist Ilia Malinin in the men’s section and Evan Bates in the ice dance category.
In 2009 ISU announced the highest prize money in the team trophy, which was a million dollar. This year the total prize money of the tournament will be $1,000,000, same as 2009. The winning country is expected to get $2,00,000.
