‘UCI BMX Racing World Championships is the prestigious world championship event of bicycle motocross. It is often called BMX Worlds in short. Cycling’s governing body, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) organizes the event annually.
The winner is awarded a gold medal and a rainbow jersey while silver and bronze medals are awarded to the second and third place holders respectively. Interestingly, winners wear their rainbow jerseys in other cycling disciplines until the following year’s event.
This year, the UCI BMX Racing World Championship is set to take place in Nantes, France from 26 July (Tuesday) to 31 July (Sunday).
Held in Arnhem in the Netherlands, Niek Kimmann won last year’s UCI BMX World Championships in the Elite men category while Marco Radaelli won it for the Junior Men category. In 2020, the event was canceled due to COVID-19 Pandemic.
