Sixteen teams will compete in the final competition, held in November. This year’s tournament will have the same number of places allocated to each confederation as the previous year’s tournament: four slots apiece from Asia and Europe and one slot each from Africa, Oceania, and Pan America.
The host nation and the defending champion are both automatically qualified. The remaining quota will be filled based on the ranking of the global teams. The Thomas 2022 will feature 16 teams fighting against one other. Indonesia is the defending champion of the Thomas Cup.
