The Trump Organization got permission from Mayor Adams’ administration to host a golf tournament at Trump Golf Course this fall, according to The New York Times. The event is scheduled to take place on October 13–15 at the Trump Links at Ferry Point in New York City.
The Aramco Team Series is a professional women’s golf tournament funded by the Saudi government. Being a part of the Ladies European Tour (LET), the event was first played in 2020. It is named after its title sponsor Aramco which is a Saudi Arabian public petroleum and natural gas company.
It’s to note that the Aramco Team Series is a separate event from the LIV Golf series although both are Saudi-backed. Former American president Donald Trump has come through a round of criticism for hosting the LIV Golf Series, another Saudi-backed tournament.
The event was hosted at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in Bedminster, New Jersey. This time allowing another Saudi-backed event will create yet more controversy. However, the city can’t withhold approval without valid reason whatsoever.
The tournament features both team and individual events. The team competition will be played among 26 teams, each consisting of three professionals and one amateur player. The event will reward a total prize money worth $1,000,000 with a winner’s share of $75,000.
