The tournament of Champions 2023 is coming to an end with only the final round left on this January 8th. Right now, Collin Morikawa is leading the event. While JJ Spaun, Scottie Scheffler, and Matt Fitzpatrick are tailing him together.
This year’s Tournament of Champions is sponsored by Sentry Insurance Co. A total of 39 top-class professionals have participated in the first round of the event. Like every year, the 2023 event features huge purse money and additional standing points for the participants.
Tournament of Champions 2023 Purse:
The 71st Tournament of Champions organizers has announced a purse pool of $15 million for this year. Which is almost double the previous iteration’s $8.2 purse pool. It will be shared between the 39 official participants based on their standings.
The winner of this year’s exotic Hawaiian PGA golf competition is set to receive $2.7 million as their winning reward. Cameron Smith, the 2022 event winner has been rewarded $1.476 million prize money. Compared to that, the winner’s share this year seems like a nearly 83% increase.
The 2nd and 3rd position prizes are $1.5 million and $950k respectively. Both of these standings have an 85% increment in prize money compared to the previous year. As the 2nd and 3rd position holders of last year were rewarded $810k and $515k prize money.
As the 2022 event only had 38 participants, the final participant was issued a $101,000 guaranteed purse. While this year’s field has 39 participants with the 39th announced to get $200,000. This is almost double what last year’s 38th standing received. Prize money amounts have increased at a healthy rate across the entire standings board.
