As a PGA Tour and FedEx Cup event, it is very popular among the top-rated golfers. From the 144-playing field of the first two rounds, only 76 golfers are playing in the final round of this year’s event.
Sony Open 2023 Purse:
The total Sony Open 2023 purse is a $7.9 million. Compared to last year’s $7.5 million purse pool, it is not a massive jump but a decent raise which will help the players with standings get a better amount.
The winner of this year’s Sony Open will bank $1.42 million reward from purse pool. Whereas, the defending champion Hideki Matsuyama earned $1.35 million in 2022. Which amounts to a 5% raise in this year’s purse money. But there will be an additional 500 FedEx Cup standing points for the champion this time.
While the runner-up is set to earn $861,100 from this year’s competition. Like the first position, it marks another 5% rise in comparison with last year’s runner-up Russel Henley’s earning of $817,500.
Like the champion and runner-up position, the top-65 placement will earn a share of the purse pool. And they will also get around a 5% increment in rewards compared to last year. Therefore, the final position 65th player is set to received $16,985 this year.
