The last Regular Season competition will lead players to the Charles Schwab Cup Playoffs, the season finisher of PGA Tour Champions. This year, the fifth edition of the tournament will take place from September 16-18 this year. The purse is set at $2 million with the winner’s share being $300,000.
Minnehaha Country Club will host the event featuring more than 70 players. The field will feature all four previous winners— reigning champion Darren Clarke, Miguel Angel Jimenez (2020), Rocco Mediate (2019), and the inaugural edition winner Steve Stricker. Other notable players to watch include big names like John Daly, Padraig Harrington, Fred Couples, Ernie Els, and Vijay Singh.
Defending Champion: Darren Clarke
Darren Clarke won Sanford International last year. He beat K.J. Choi with a birdie on the second hole of a playoff to claim his third PGA Tour Champions victory of that season. He is a former player on the PGA Tour and European Tour. The 54-year-old Irishman has bagged 27 professional titles in his kit while 14 of them came on the European Tour. He ranked his career-high 8th on 22 July 2001.
