PGA Tour Champions returned to California with the senior players on tour teeing it up at the Poppy Hills Golf Course in the Pure Insurance Championship 2022.
2022 marks the 19th edition of the Pure Insurance Championship. Being one of the most prestigious tournaments on the Champions Tour, it has appealed to distinguished senior players since its establishment in 2004. This year is no different as many prominent golfers over the age of 50 are playing in the 2022 Pure Insurance Championship.
The field is set with 79 players, playing 54 holes with no cut. Some of the big names to look out for this year are; Padraig Harrington, Steve Alker, Mike Weir, and others. Kj Choi, the winner of the 2021 Pure Insurance Championship, is absent this time around.
With only the final day of the tournament remaining, the hype is already building up about who will be crowned champion and bag himself the lucrative prize money. Ken Duke is currently leading the standing tieing with Paul Stankowski. Day 4 of Pure Insurance Championship 2022 is certain to deliver the fans some of the most exciting golf play.
Pure Insurance Championship 2022 Purse and Payout:
The Pure Insurance Championship 2022 will award a purse of $2.2 million. The winner will receive $330,000 which is the standard 15% of the purse according to the PGA Tour Champions’ prize money distribution chart.
There has been no change in the purse and payout for 2022 compared to last year. Similar to 2021, the runner-up and the 2nd runner-up will get $193,600 and $158,400, respectively.
Although winning this tournament will not get the players Official World Golf Ranking points, it does have certain incentives other than the massive purse. A solid performance in this tournament will help the players to qualify for the Charles Schwab Cup playoffs in 2022.
