Puerto Rico Open is an annual professional golf tournament under PGA Tour. The event was first established in 2008 and has been running regularly under the tour’s annual calendar since.
The upcoming tournament of this year will mark the 15th anniversary of the popular Puerto Rican golf event. It will take place simultaneously with the more popular Arnold Palmer Invitational over the span of four days from this Thursday.
The tournament will maintain PGA Tour’s standard stroke play format over four round games of 72 par. Organizers have already published the amount of prize pool, which is $3.8 million with a winner’s share of $684k. This signifies a modest $100k increment over the previous iteration’s purse pool.
In addition to the prize share, winner of the event is also announced to be rewarded with 300 FedEx cup points, 24 OWGR points and two-year exemption on PGA Tour. A total of 120 professional PGA golfers will participate in the Puerto Rican golf event. However, defending champion Ryan Brehm will not be present this year.
