Principal Charity Classic 2023 Purse:
The 22nd Principal Charity Classic is getting underway in Iowa at present. 78 professional senior golfers are competing in the 3-round long event. Fan favorites like Steve Alker, Ernie Els, Miguel Angel Jimenez, and David Toms are in the field.
For the 2023 edition, event organizers have announced a $2 million purse pool. This marks a decent 8% increase over the previous year’s 1.85 million purse pool. Thanks to the rise in purses, the guaranteed purse of every position will receive a decent increment.
The winner of the event will receive a 15% cut from the purse pool. Furthermore, all 78 participants will receive a share of the purse based on their final standings. There will be no cut requirement in the competition.
Additionally, the earned purse amount will be counted towards everyone’s Charles Schwab Cup point list. However, there will be no additional OWGR or other points offered in the competition.
According to the announced distribution chart, the champion of the Principal Charity Classic 2023 will receive a $300,000 check as a reward. While the runner-up will receive $176,000. Following him, the 3rd place holder will take $144,000 with him.
The increase in purses is most noticeable in the lower standings’ distribution. As, the 76th, 77th, and 78th participants will receive $1,160, $1,080, and $1,000 respectively. In contrast, they received only $1,070, $999, and $925 last year.
