LIV’s main appeal is its massive purse. Although many golfers choose not to admit it directly, it is a fact that the lucrative payout of the Saudi-backed tour was the biggest cause of so many defections from the PGA.
As announced by the LIV authority, the total LIV Golf Chicago 2022 Purse amounts to $25 million, with $20 million to distribute among the participating players, and the rest of $5 million is reserved for the top 3 teams of the event. It is a 54-hole tournament with no cut, meaning all the players are eligible for a share of the purse.
The winner of the tournament will receive at least $4 million. It is possible to get a bigger payout for the winner, provided his teams win the event. The winning team gets $3 million as a bonus to split among its four players. The 2nd and 3rd placed teams bag themselves $1.5 million and $500,000, respectively.
LIV has 8 tournaments planned for the 2022 season. Each tournament offers the same prize money. In the previous event of the tour in Boston, It was Dustin Johnson who won the event and secured himself a payout of $4 million.
