The LPGA Tour has arrived in Cincinnati for the first time in 30 years with the inaugural edition of the Kroger Queen City Championship. This 72-hole tournament is the 25th event of the 2022 season of LPGA.
For its first event, the tournament is joined by a solid player field. The player field of 144 players consists of leading female golfers like Minjee Lee, Brooke Henderson, Danielle Kang, and Lexi Thompson. 26 golfers among the top 50 of the LPGA Tour ranking are currently teeing off at the Kenwood Country Club.
After 3 rounds of play, currently at the top of the leaderboard is Ally Ewing. She is followed by Maria Fassi and Lin Xiyu, who are in 2nd and 3rd place, respectively. Surprisingly, The highest ranked player on the field, Minjee Lee, could not make the cut.

Kroger Queen City Championship 2022 Purse:
The total purse for the Kroger Queen City Championship 2022 is set to be $1.75 million. The winner of the tournament will receive $262,500, which is the standard 15 percent payout according to the LPGA Tour’s prize money distribution chart.
As it is the inaugural edition, we cannot compare the purse to the previous years. However, LPGA has ensured that the event offers a purse similar to the other events on the tour.
To be eligible for a share of the prize money, a player needs to make the cut to the top 70 after 36 holes. The 2nd and 3rd placed golfer will be awarded $162,834 and $118,125, while the 70th place will take home $3,567.
Alongside the lucrative payout, there are added benefits for performing well in the tournament. The winner of this tournament earns 500 points toward the Race to the CME Globe. CME Group Tour Championship is a season-ending event with a payout of $2 million to the winner. Only the top 60 players in the standings at the end of the Pelican Women’s Championship are eligible to participate.
