Hero Indian Open 2023 Purse:
Hero Indian Open is a popular Indian professional golf event. Following a 3-year cancellation streak (due to covid-19), the event is finally back on track under the DP World Tour 2023 season.
This edition marks the 13th official run of the event. Popular top-class DP World Tour golfers such as title defenders Stephen Gallacher, Thomas Bjorn, and Robert MacIntyre are participating in the latest event.
The Hero Indian Open 2023 organizers have announced a $2 million purse for the event. This marks a modest 14% increment from the 2019 event’s $1.75 million purse pool. Moreover, only the top-65 in standings from the 120-player field will receive a share of this purse pool unlike the previous year’s top-70 share.
The winner at the ongoing Hero Indian Open is set to receive $340,000 share as prize from the pool. In contrast, the previous champion Stephen Gallacher was rewarded $291,660. Following the winner, runners-up at the ongoing event will earn a purse of $220,000. While in 2019, runner-up Masahiro Kawamura earned $194,450 purse. Purse size in the top section of standings has improved at a modest rate.
Purse’s share of the bottom positions will see a significant increase this time. The 63rd, 64th, and 65th placeholders will respectively receive $5,200, $5,000, and $4,800 this year. Whereas in 2019, their purse amounts were $3,500, $3,238, and $3,238 respectively.
