LIV Golf Invitational Series prepares for its next event at Trump National Golf Bedminster, New Jersey. The tournament is scheduled to take place from July 29 to July 31. Saudi-backed LIV Golf is a brand new rival to the PGA Tour.
Survivors and family members who lost loved ones in the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks criticized Donald Trump for hosting the tournament and urged him to stop doing business with the Saudi kingdom, reports CBS News.
In a letter dated Sunday, members of the group 9/11 Justice wrote, “We simply cannot understand how you could agree to accept money from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s golf league to host their tournament at your golf course, and to do so in the shadows of ground zero in New Jersey, which lost over 700 residents during the attacks.”
But Trump calls golfers to join LIV Golf ignoring their criticism. “All of those golfers that remain ‘loyal’ to the very disloyal PGA, in all of its different forms, will pay a big price when the inevitable MERGER with LIV comes, and you get nothing but a big ‘thank you’ from PGA officials who are making Millions of Dollars a year.
“If you don’t take the money now, you will get nothing after the merger takes place, and only say how smart the original signers were.” Trump wrote on Truth Social Monday.
Notably, the PGA Tour voted to terminate the agreement to play the 2022 PGA Championship at Trump Bedminster last year, after a violent attack on the US Capitol by supporters of Trump.
