On August 25, the LPGA Tour landed in Canada for the Canadian Women’s Open. As of this moment, the event is practically over with only the last day left to play. The event will officially draw its curtain on August 28.
Since its inception in 1973, it has been a prominent competition. Almost all of the top female golfers have taken part in this competition over the years. It’s the same story this year.
Defending Champion: Jin Young Ko
With 30 of the top 50 players in the Tour ranking competing, the event has the attention of tennis fans all around the world. The biggest named golfers to be competing for the top prize in the hunt club are Jin Young Ko, Lydia Ko, Brooke Henderson, Minjee Lee, etc.
With such a talented lineup, the tournament was bound to be entertaining. As the event’s finale approaches, it has fulfilled its promise and provided a thrilling experience for spectators all across the world.
CP Women’s Open 2022 Purse and Payout:
The LPGA and Golf Canada revealed that the CP Women’s Open 2022 Purse will be $2,350,000. The winner will get the customary 15% of the total prize money, which is $352,500.
The purse for the previous edition in 2019 was $2,250,000, and Ko Jin-young took home $337,500 as the champion. The Women’s Canadian Open increased its prize money for this year, along with several other competitions on the women’s circuit. The prize pool has increased this year by $100,000, and the winner will also get an additional $15,000 in cash.
Incentives for winning the competition also exist. In the Race to the CME Globe rankings, the winner will receive 500 points. The CME Globe Tour Championship, the season’s last tournament, features the top 60 players in the final standings for a $1.5 million prize.
A contestant must finish in the top 70 to be qualified to receive a portion of the CP Women’s Open 2022 Purse. The 70th place finisher will get $4,789 from the total CP Women’s Open purse, while the first and second runners-up will receive $218,663 and $158,625 respectively.
