The event is titled ‘Cazoo Open supported by Gareth Bale’ and is also referred to as the 2022 Wales Open.

The Cazoo Open supported by Gareth Bale will take place at the Celtic Manor Resort, City of Newport, Wales from August 4-7. The total purse for the event has been set to be €1,750,000. Nacho Elvira won the championship last year.

1. Nacho Elvira (Defending Champion)

Nacho Elvira beat Justin Harding to win his first European Tour victory at the Cazoo Open last year. The Spanish will definitely try his heart and soul to defend the title. He has 5 professional titles in his kit.

2. Callum Shinkwin

Interestingly, Shinkwin started his sporting career as a junior boxer and eventually came to golf later. As an amateur, he won the English Amateur Championship in 2013. The English professional golfer won his maiden European Tour title at the Aphrodite Hills Cyprus Open in 2020.

3. Mikko Korhonen

Mikko Korhonen won the Shot Clock Masters and the Volvo China Open in 2018 and 2019 respectively. The Finnish golfer turned professional in 2004 and achieved his career-high No. 84 on 5 May 2019. He was in the mix at last year’s Cazoo Open and finished just one outside the play-off. It was his fifth start here with two missed cuts, a WD and a T8 in the others.

4. Eddie Pepperell

Edward Louis Pepperell won two European Tour events— one at the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters and the second one at the Sky Sports British Masters, both in 2018. After a prominent amateur career, he turned professional in 2011.  The English golfer ranked his career-high 32 on 7 July 2019.

5. Sean Crocker

This year’s Hero Open champion Sean Crocker will be one of the top favorites at the Cazoo Open. Turning professional in 2017, this was his maiden professional title. He has an excellent ball striking ability. Last week’s title will definitely keep the Americans boosted with confidence, however, winning back-to-back titles is not easy.
