The Boeing Classic 2022 is a professional golf tournament for the senior (aged 50 or more) players on the tour. The tournament started on Thursday, August 11. The event is almost near its closure now, with the final day of the tournament scheduled for Sunday, August 14.
Since the inaugural Boeing Classic professional golf tournament in 2005, every event has taken place at The Club at Snoqualmie Ridge in Washington, USA. Similar to previous years, many top senior players have participated in this year’s edition and are currently teeing it up at the course for the glory of clinching first place.
The field is of 78 golfers who will be competing in 54 holes with no cut. Many prominent senior golfers have joined the field of this prestigious tournament. Among them are veterans like Padraig Harrington, Jerry Kelly, Steve Flesch, and others. The current champion Rod Pampling is also here to defend his crown in the course of Washington.
With such a stacked field, the 2022 Boeing Classic is an incredibly exciting watch for the fans.
Boeing Classic 2022 Purse and Payout:
The Boeing Classic 2022 has a purse of $2.2 million as announced by the PGA. The winner of the event will take home $330,000, which is the standard 15% of the purse in accordance with the PGA Tour Champions’ prize money distribution chart.
All the players are eligible for a share of the purse. The 2nd and the 3rd placed golfer will be awarded a payout of $193,600 and $158,400 respectively, while the last-placed participant gets $1,100.
In the last edition of the Boeing Classic, PGA offered the same prize money to the players as this year. The winner of the 2021 Boeing Classic, Rod Pampling, bagged a similar share of $330,000 from the purse.
Other than the lucrative payout, there are added incentives for the participants who finish at the top of the leaderboard. Although this tournament does not provide Official World Golf Ranking points, it does give points necessary to qualify for the Charles Schwab Cup playoffs.
