A relatively new tournament, the Butterfield Bermuda Championship first established in 2019. Initially, it launched as an alternative to the WGC-HSBC Champions. But recently it was upgraded to full FedEx Cup standing.
The 2022 Butterfield Bermuda Championship is the 4th iteration of the annual tournament. Like every year, the event is held at Port Royal Golf Course in Bermuda. A total of 132 players have participated in the event.
Let us take a look at the prize money distribution of the ongoing PGA Tour event.
Bermuda Championship 2022 Purse:
Like its previous iteration, the Bermuda Championship 2022 Purse is $6.5 million. As a result, the prize distribution based on placement will remain unchanged from the previous year.
The winner of the ongoing PGA Tour event will receive a standard winner’s share of 18% of the original prize pool. As such, the winner will receive $1.17 million in prize money in the event. The current title defender, Lucas Herbert bagged the same amount after winning the tournament last year. Furthermore, 500 FedEx Cup and 20 OWGR points will be allocated in the winner’s name. He will also get a two-plus season exemption from the PGA Tour.
Following up, the runner-up will receive $708,500 and the third place holder will receive $448,500 reward. Also, only the top 65 players to make a cut will receive prize money based on their placement. As such, the 63rd, 64th, and 65th-positioned players will receive $14,235, $14,105, and $13,975 respectively. The reward distribution amounts are exactly the same as last year.
