PGA Championship tour has supported over 3000 charities in its running time. And Ascension Charity Classic made its entry in the tour in 2021. Now, this year the tournament will start on Friday, September 9. It will end on Sunday, September 11.
A 54-hole stroke play with a par of 71 is the required format for the tournament. It has a prize pool of US$2,000,000 for the participants. In the first round, 78 players are participating in Tee-01. There will be three rounds and a 6992-yard play length for the competition.
Defending Champion: David Toms
David Toms was the first champion of the inaugural event of the Ascension Charity Classic. This year he will be returning to defend his position again. This season he has already played in 15 events earning almost $800,000. So there are high hopes for him even though he had acquired the 14th position last championship tour.
Last season, his winning scores in Ascension Charity Classic were round-1: 68, round-2: 69, round-3: 66, and in total 203. He also had -10 to PAR. He won the 2001 PGA championship with a 265 score. He runs a golf academy called Academy 265 in Louisiana. The championship has yet to see more of him. He will be joining Norwood Golf Program with the top players now.
