One of the brightest stars of this generation, Barcelona player Dembele was never too far from the news headlines. Notwithstanding the negative reasons most of the time. Xavi came to the club and rejuvenate them and seems like the French forward has found his form again.
Early days of Dembele:
Dembele’s upbringing as a footballer is nothing short of a surprise. He was playing for Rennes after coming from their age-specific team. Just a season later he moved to Germany. One of the best clubs in the world for nursing young talents and making them bigger stars, Borussia Dortmund bought the kid. He started to propel there. Helped the club to win the DFB Pokal by scoring a goal in the final. Though he was a teenager back then, he had immense potential. It might be better for him if he could stay at Signal Iduna Park for longer. Nevertheless, Barcelona was desperate to sign a winger as PSG snatched their prized asset Neymar. Ousmane fulfilled all the criteria as he can shoot with both feet, is technically skillful, has lightning speed, and can cause problems for any defense. Buying him as a young player with huge prospects was kind of a masterstroke for the Catalan club apart from one thing, his hefty transfer money. In total, Barcelona has paid nearly 130 million to Dortmund let alone the salary and other expenditures for the player.
Soon all the hopes of both parties started to fade away. There is no question about the ability of the player, however, his fitness issue started to haunt the club. His indisciplined life, lack of professionalism, and health problems made things worse for either party. In the last 5 years, he missed around half of his matches. Still, the club was hopeful to keep the player to the Camp Nou but he entered the last couple of months of his contract and has yet to sign the renewal. The club hierarchy has made several offers to the representatives of the player but failed to meet the demand. From 2017 till now, he played 139 matches for Blaugrana, scored 32 goals, and provided 30 assists.
Rejuvenation:
In January, when the player didn’t agree with the club to extend his stay, it was obvious that he will depart at the end of the season. However, the arrival of Xavi and a great winter transfer window change the fortune of the club. From knocking out of the group round, playing in the second fiddle of Europe for the first time in 20 years and a serious doubt of securing a spot for the next season’s UCL to win the El Classico 0-4 at away venue depict many things. The world cup winner with France has changed a lot too. He recorded a goal and seven assists in his last 5 matches. Overall, he played in 21 matches this season, scored 2 times, and helped his teammates on 9 occasions to find the back of the net.
Transfer Saga continues:
It’s yet to resolve if the player will continue with the Catalan club or not. He finds his best form, he has a known pal from his Dortmund’s days in Aubameyang who insists a lot too. Added to that, he has the backing of the manager. Therefore, rumors are there that he might stay at Camp Nou as leaving the club is not in his mind. He just wants to have the right offer for him.
At the same time, news arrives from his homeland that he will say goodbye to the Catalan club to come back to his country. Mbappe is set to leave PSG in the coming summer for Real Madrid and the Parisian club is preparing a huge offer for Dembele. He is available for free which attracts the club the most. Some other offers from Premier League and Italy are in the air too although either PSG or Barca will be the most likely destination for the Frenchman.
The French winger is an exciting player and real football fans love to enjoy the balling of such kind of player. No matter where the player will go, we, the fans of the beautiful game wish him the best of luck.
