Sentinels and 100 Thieves both have survived the first week of the NA Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ), setting up one of the most anticipated matchups in the North-American Valorant scene on the 11th of August.
Last Chance Qualifier is the final Valorant Champions Tour tournament organized by Riot Games before the Valorant Champions 2022. Six LCQ tournaments in five regions are underway to fill the last six spots in the Champions Tournament.
North America Last Chance Qualifier, where eight teams compete in a double elimination bracket, has garnered colossal attention this time. Former Counter-Strike pro and one of the biggest streamers ever, Michael “shroud” Grzesiek has returned to e-sports as he signs with the most popular Valorant org in the world, Sentinels, to play in the 2022 NA LCQ. Valorant fans around the world could not wait as shroud made his highly anticipated comeback to pro play after almost five years.

The first week of VCT 2022 NA LCQ started on the 4th of August, 2022. Sentinels were set to face the 2022 Stage 1 NA Challengers winners, The Guard, in the first round. In what was a nail-biting series from start to finish, Sentinels went on to lose the best of three, 2-1 (13-15, 13-10, 15-13). However, Sentinels came back the very next round as the fan-favorite beat Shopify Rebellion (13-8, 17-15) in the lower bracket round 1 to advance to the next week.
While Sentinels stumbled early in the tournament, 100 Thieves started strong with an impressive win against one of the tournament favorites, NRG Esports. Yet, the good time did not last long enough for 100t as they suffered a crushing defeat in the upper bracket semi-finals losing to Faze Clan by a 2-1 margin (6-13, 13-8, 9-13).
Sentinels and 100 Thieves have been the top NA teams since the launch of Valorant in 2020. A match between them never disappoints the fans. With the results of the first week, it is now confirmed that the two giants of North America Valorant are set to clash once more in the lower bracket quarter-finals of LCQ.
The Sentinels vs 100 Thieves match is scheduled to start at 9:00 p.m ET on Thursday, August 11.
Other than Sentinels and 100t, six more teams are still in the tournament. Only Shopify Rebellion and Evil Geniuses could not make it to week 2, having been eliminated by Sentinels and NRG, respectively.
