Women’s road race is back with the inaugural event for women in the Tour de Romandie beginning on the 7th of October. Here is all you need to know about the Tour de Romandie Women 2022.
The Tour de Romandie is a tournament with massive tradition and history, having been established in 1947. As a celebration of the 75th edition of the event, the organization is holding the women’s race for the first time in the event’s history. This race will consist of three stages starting from Lausanne, Switzerland. After the end of three intense racing days, it will finish in Geneva on the 9th of October.
Many big names of the women’s peloton have signed up for the 2022 Tour de Romandie Women aiming to clinch the glory of winning the first-ever Romandie crown. Annemiek van Vleuten, the current world champion and the winner of, has enlisted herself for this event. She is having an outstanding season winning the Giro d’Italia Donne, Tour de France Femmes and the Challenge by La Vuelta.
Other than Van Vleuten, Demi Vollering is the rider with the most eyes on. Vollering, part of Team SD Worx, has placed second in the recently finished Tour de France. Thanks to her stellar form and powerful team that she brings with her, the 25-year-old Dutch Cyclist has arrived in Switzerland as the hot favorite.
There are some other promising riders on the starting list we need to look out for. Kasia Niewiadoma (Canyon-SRAM), Mavi Garcia (UAE Team ADQ), Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig and Elisa Longo Borghini (Trek-Segafredo) are the foremost among them.
With such a star-studded starting list, the race is bound to be very exciting.

Tour de Romandie Women 2022 Course: Routes and Distances:
The first stage of the Tour de Romandie Women starts from the hilly routes of Lausanne. Following the five ascents on the opening stage, stage 2 starts in Sion and finishes at the mountaintop at Thyon 2000. Finally, the three day race comes to its conclusion in Geneva after yet another hilly route in stage 3.
