The new year has started, and so have the new exciting sporting events. At the beginning of the new year, the Road Nationals will be starting, with all the best cyclists in Australia. Here, you will get a full idea about the Road Nationals 2023.
The tournament is considered the most prestigious cycling event in Australia, where we can see the top Australian racers.
The tournament will be featuring different categories and events. There will be Elite men and women races, u-19 and u-23 featured races as well as para-cycling races in short, classic road races and time trial events.
Luke Plapp is the defending champion in the elite men’s category, while Ruby Roseman-Gannon is the title defender in the elite women’s category.
Australia’s fastest sprinter Caleb Ewan will take light in the men’s category, while we will be seeing Amanda Sprat playing for the first time for her new team.
When is Road Nationals 2023?
The tournament will start on January 6 and will continue till January 10. Here is the detailed schedule of the events:
- January 6: Criterium:
- January 7-8: Road Races
- January 9-10: Time Trials

There will be three events in this tournament. These are:
Criterium:
This event covers a short race where each lap is 1 km.
Road race:
Classic cycle race, featuring an 11.6km circuit, where racers will race for 186km in 16 laps.
Time Trials:
The racer who finishes with the lowest time wins.
