Criterium du Dauphine is a popular road cycling competition based in France. The stage race event is currently sanctioned under UCI’s annual World Tour. Established in 1947, the event will mark its 75th official iteration this year.
Like the recent years, this upcoming Criterium de Dauphine 2023 will be an 8-stage race over the span of 8 days. It starts this June 4th in Chambon-sur-Lac and will end on June 11 in La Bastille.
A total of 21 professional cycling teams will participate in the event. Among them, 18 will be from the UCI WorldTeams and the rest of the three slots will be filled by UCI ProTeams. Each team will contain six to eight racers.
The cycling competition will contain 7 race stages and an individual time trial stage. These will mostly consist of hilly and rough mountain stages. Participants will cross over 1,214.1 km of distance in the span of eight days.
Christophe Laporte became the first stage winner during the inaugural day stage. Following him, another French competitor Julian Alphilippe won the second stage. Christophe Laporte is leading both the general and points classification leaderboard.
