Asia cup’s 15th event, the Asia Cup 2022 will take place in the United Arab Emirates which is going to kick start tomorrow. It’s actually hosted by Sri Lanka but due to their economic turmoil and the chaotic situation, they declared that they were unable to organize the tournament.
September 2020 was the initial date of this tournament, however, the Covid-19 pandemic forced ACC (Asian Cricket Council) to change the schedule which was then set for July 2021. The pandemic situation was still disastrous and the event was postponed one more time. Here is the information regarding the sporting event.
When will the Asia Cup 2022 commence?
The tournament will take place from 27 August to 11 September. Tomorrow, the first match is going to take place between Afghanistan and Sri Lanka. The final will be on 11th September.
Teams and groups of the tournament:
6 teams are going to partake in the Asia Cup 2022. It’s a t20 cricket tournament. 6 teams are divided into two initial groups.
Group A:
- Hong Kong
- India
- Pakistan
Group B:
- Afghanistan
- Bangladesh
- Sri Lanka
The top four teams of the two groups will then compete with each other in a round-robin league system. The top Two of that four will meet on the 11th of September final.
Where will the tournament take place?
Two venues will be used to host all 13 matches of the Asia Cup 2022.
- Dubai International Cricket Stadium will host 10 matches including the final.
- Sharjah Cricket Stadium will host the rest of the three matches.

- 27th August, Saturday, 8.00 pm: Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka
- 28th August, Sunday, 8.00 pm: India vs Pakistan
- 30th August, Tuesday, 8.00 pm: Afghanistan vs Bangladesh
- 31st August, Wednesday 8.00 pm: India vs Hong Kong
- September 1, Thursday, 8.00 pm: Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh
- September 2, Friday, 8.00 pm: Pakistan vs Hong Kong
- Super 4 matches will take place from September 3 to September 9.
