The entire boxing world kept eyes on the high-voltage battle between Ryan Garcia and Javier Fortuna last Saturday. Many considered Fortuna to be the toughest opposition of Garcia’s career. However, it came out to be an unequal battle favoring Garcia as he easily defeated Fortuna by knockout in six rounds and remained undefeated.
Garcia sent Fortuna to the canvas three times, in the fourth, fifth, and sixth rounds with his signature left hook to Fortuna’s rib cage. The former champion held on as long as he could, but the previous knocks he carried on his back made him quit.
“I know that I was sharp, I know how good of a fighter I am, I just had to put it all together,” said Garcia.
Garcia could have a title shot with this win. As expected, he has shown his guts in an interview desiring to fight Gervonta Davis next.
“I will fight Tank next. That’s going to give me the respect I deserve. I’m never afraid. I have a spirit of competition in me and you’re going to see that come out when I fight Tank and whip his ass.”, said the brave Garcia.
Interestingly, just minutes after Garcia’s victory, Davis wrote on Twitter “See y’all the end of the year.” It certainly hints toward yet another exciting face-off that will keep awaiting fans.
