The Indonesian Open is currently titled as “Daihatsu Indonesia Masters”. This is due to a sponsorship deal with the Japanese automobile manufacturer, Daihatsu Motor.
The Jakarta based event is sanctioned by the BWF. It is held annually under their BWF World Tour series’ Super 500 division. The event features individual and mixed tournaments for both Men’s and Women’s disciplines.
2023 Indonesia Masters will be the 13th official iteration of the event. Over 250 professional badminton players from various international regions will participate in the event. It features $420,000 as prize pool of this year.
Danish professional Viktor Axelsen was initially the leading seed of the event but withdrew from participating. The second seed, Lee Zii Jia was then promoted to become the lead seed for this year’s Men’s singles at Indonesia Masters. The Malaysian is ranked 4th in BWF men’s singles rankings. He won the gold medal at the 2022 Asian Championships in Manila.
Both the initial 1st and 2nd seeds, respectively Akane Yamaguchi and Chen Yufei withdrew from this year’s Indonesian Open. As such, the South Korean professional An Se-young is currently leading the women’s singles seeds. Currently ranked 2nd among women’s singles competitors in BWF, she won four events last year.
